ASUS ROG Phone 10 Review: The Ultimate Gaming Smartphone of 2026

📅 February 28, 2026 ⏱️ 3 min read

The ASUS ROG Phone 10 is the most extreme gaming device you can buy in 2026. With the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 processor, 165Hz AMOLED display, AeroActive Cooler X active cooling, and 6,000mAh battery, it's built for hardcore gamers. But is it worth the ~€1,100 price tag? Let's find out.

📐 Design & Build

The ROG Phone 10 doesn't hide its gaming identity. The back features RGB Aura Lighting — LED illumination you can customize (react to notifications, pulse while charging, or sync with music). The design is angular and aggressive, with side air vents for the AeroActive Cooler.

In hand, it's large and heavy (228g) — but that means a massive battery. The sides feature AirTrigger 5 ultrasonic buttons — touch sensors that work like controller bumpers. You use them in games without covering the screen.

🖥️ Display

The 6.78″ Samsung AMOLED display is simply stunning: 165Hz refresh rate, 720Hz touch sampling rate, 2,500 nits peak brightness. In gaming, the difference between 60Hz and 165Hz is enormous — EVERYTHING looks smoother, animations more fluid, and response time near zero.

It supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision — even for video streaming, the display is top-tier. Resolution is FHD+ (2448 x 1080) — ASUS chose 1080p over QHD for lower battery consumption during gaming.

⚡ Performance & Gaming

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 with 24GB LPDDR5X RAM (Ultimate Edition) represents peak Android processing power. Benchmarks: AnTuTu over 2,400,000, Geekbench single-core ~3,200. These are laptop-level numbers.

In practice: Genshin Impact runs at max settings (constant 60fps), Honkai Star Rail doesn't drop below 55fps even in heavy scenes, PUBG Mobile at 90fps ultra smooth. With the AeroActive Cooler X attached, temperatures stay below 40°C even during marathon gaming sessions.

X Mode (activated from Armoury Crate settings) unleashes FULL power — overclocks the processor, boosts RAM, and prioritizes gaming traffic on WiFi. The fps difference between normal and X Mode is 10-15%.

🔋 Battery

The 6,000mAh battery lasts ALL day even with heavy gaming. Casual use easily gets 2 days. The 65W HyperCharge fills 0-100% in 42 minutes — impressive for 6,000mAh. It supports bypass charging during gaming — power goes directly to the system without charging (and heating) the battery.

📸 Camera

The camera isn't why you buy a gaming phone — but ASUS improved significantly: 50MP Sony IMX890 main, 13MP ultrawide, 5MP macro. In good light, photos are very respectable. Night? OK but it doesn't compete with Pixel or Galaxy S26.

💰 Price & Our Verdict

At ~€1,100 (16GB/512GB), the ROG Phone 10 is ONLY for dedicated gamers. If you play 2+ hours of mobile games daily, there's no better choice. AirTriggers, the 165Hz display, and the AeroActive Cooler make a real difference in gameplay. If you're a casual gamer, look at the Poco F7 Ultra or OnePlus 15T — much cheaper and fast enough.
