📍 What Is the AirTag 2?
The AirTag (2nd generation) is Apple's latest Bluetooth tracker, designed to help you find your stuff using the Find My app. Attach one to your keys, slip one in your bag, and track your items anytime, anywhere.
Pricing starts at $29 for a single unit (around €39 in Europe due to taxes and regional pricing).
🔊 50% Louder Speaker
One of the most practical upgrades. The new AirTag produces sound that's 50% louder than the first generation, letting you hear it from up to twice the distance. This makes a huge difference when you're searching for your keys buried in couch cushions or somewhere in the car.
You can play a sound via the Items tab in the Find My app, or simply ask Siri: “Where are my keys?”

🎯 Precision Finding with Expanded Range
Precision Finding uses Ultra Wideband technology to show you the exact distance and direction to your AirTag, complete with an arrow on your iPhone screen. On the AirTag 2, this range is 1.5 times greater thanks to the new second-generation Ultra Wideband chip.
In practice, this means you can pinpoint your AirTag even when it's farther away — for instance, if you left your keys in a different room or in the car. Your screen shows a directional arrow with the exact distance in meters or feet.
🌐 The Find My Network: Over 1 Billion Devices
The AirTag's real “secret weapon” isn't any single piece of hardware — it's the Find My network. Over 1 billion iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices worldwide act as anonymous detectors for lost AirTags.

Here's how it works:
- Your AirTag sends out a secure Bluetooth signal
- Nearby Apple devices on the Find My network detect that signal
- The location is sent encrypted to iCloud
- You see the location in the Find My app
The entire process is anonymous and encrypted. Not even Apple can see the location of your AirTags.
🔗 Share with Up to 5 People
A great new feature: you can now share an AirTag with up to 5 people. Items the whole family uses — car keys, umbrella, bike — can be tracked by everyone in the group.

🔐 Privacy and Anti-Stalking
Apple has built in strong anti-abuse features:
- "AirTag Detected Near You" alerts: If someone else's AirTag is traveling with you, your iPhone (or Android phone) will notify you
- Automatic sound: After some time, a separated AirTag starts playing a sound
- NFC identification: If you find a lost AirTag, you can tap it with any NFC-capable smartphone to see the owner's contact information

Lost Mode and Airlines
You can put your AirTag in Lost Mode so you're automatically notified when it's found. Plus, an excellent feature lets you temporarily share your item's location — for example with airlines like Delta, Lufthansa, United, and Singapore Airlines (over 50 total) — if your luggage goes missing.
🏪 Is the Upgrade Worth It?
If you don't own any AirTags yet, the AirTag 2 is absolutely the right choice. If you already have first-gen AirTags, the upgrade mainly makes sense if:
- You want greater Precision Finding range
- You struggle to hear the current AirTag's sound
- You want family sharing for your tracker
- You have an iPhone 15 or newer to fully utilize UWB 2
