📝 What Is the Competition
The National Young Scientists Competition is organized by the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs in collaboration with the Eugenides Foundation and the Hellenic Physical Society. It serves as the official national qualifier for Greece's participation in the European Union Contest for Young Scientists (EUCYS), which this year will be held in Warsaw in September. The winners of the national competition represent our country against talented young scientists from across Europe.
The competition is open to students aged 14-20 who have completed an original research project in any scientific field. The work can be individual or in groups (up to 3 people) and must demonstrate originality, scientific methodology, and meaningful results. There is no restriction on the topic: from biology and physics to computer science, environmental science, and social sciences.
🔍 Participation Categories
The competition covers a wide range of scientific fields, allowing students to showcase their interests regardless of the area that attracts them. Each project is evaluated by a specialized committee in the corresponding field.
🔬 Physical Sciences

💡 Tips for a Successful Entry
Based on previous years' experience and recommendations from the judging committee, we share some key tips that can make a difference in your project:
Choose a topic that excites you: Research requires time and persistence. If the topic truly interests you, that will show in your work and keep you motivated during the tough moments.
Start with a clear question: Every good research project starts with a specific question you want to answer. Avoid overly broad topics and focus on something specific that you can study with the resources you have.
Document everything: Keep a detailed research journal, photographs from experiments, data files, and references to literature. The judging committee values scientific methodology.
Seek guidance: A supervising teacher can help you avoid mistakes and better structure your project. Many universities also accept students for summer research programs.
✅ Prizes and Benefits
Participating in the competition offers much more than cash prizes. Participants gain experience in scientific research, networking with academics and professionals, and a valuable addition to their resume that is highly regarded by universities in Greece and abroad.
Prizes include study scholarships worth up to €5,000, scientific equipment and software, free participation in summer schools and science camps, as well as the opportunity to publish their work in scientific journals for young researchers. For the three winners, participation in EUCYS is fully funded by the Ministry of Education.
